Hotel Jansen I schinkel

From concept to realisation and exploitation Jacqui is the co creator of a temporary short-stay hotel offering unique and affordable co-living for international students.
Having been a foreigner for most of her life, she approached this project from experience, wanting to create more than just a place to visit but rather a comfortable, casual, and considered place to live. A shared living space concept that not only facilitated community internally but encouraged the international students to be a part of the larger community. A place where you would feel less like a tourist and more like a local.
Hotel Jansen is a prefab built hotel that shall only exist for a period of 10 years. For the hotels temporary status we chose to focus on recycled materials that could be easily broken down or recycled again. We took our inspiration for the original furniture design from the semi industrial environment where were located. Collaborating with a sizeable team of artists and creators, much of the hotel’s interior and art are unique in design, recycled and are locally made.
